I assume those of you who are local were shaken from sleep this morning at 5:30 too. Now that’s excitement! (And all this time I’ve been concerned about tornadoes. Ha!)
I was in Pitter’s bed, with his coughing, snotty little face pressed against my neck, his arms wrapped tightly around me (no small feat given my current circumference), when the bed began to shake and the side rail began banging. At first I thought Pitter was kicking me, then I thought something had exploded underground and that the house was about to fall apart, and then I realized it was an earthquake. I had a similar experience in the middle of the night in Staten Island once, although that one was stronger because it shook some pictures off the walls.
Pitter slept through the whole thing, of course. Clearly he was exhausted from keeping me up from 2-3 talking feverishly about eating raisins and showing his stuffed animals the moon, and then coughing in his sleep for the rest of the morning. Little pill.

It was INSANE! It woke everyone in the house up here. My mom was woken up (in Plainfield). I haven’t talked to the in-laws yet to see how they and my DS faired in their camper. Our neighbors and we all went out on our porches with a “What the heck was THAT?” until it finally showed on the news! It’s NUTS!
